A LANTERN & A CORNFIELD – #flashfictionmagic

November 13, 2021 by Sheri

Shera studied the shadowy crease between Armand’s eyebrows while he surveyed the tapestry hanging from her hands. Was he pleased? Surprised? Disgusted by her first vision of her own world? Why had she chosen to weave a cornfield, anyway? It looked plain and blond surrounded by the rich curtains of Armand’s royal tent. “There’s something […]

MIRROR, MIRROR – #flashfictionmagic

November 12, 2021 by Sheri

🪞 Lux was astonished to find that it was possible to grow tired of his own reflection. He turned to Autumn, ignoring the perfectly amber ascot that made his hair gleam burnished gold. “You’re telling me we need to find the one mirror that does not reveal our splendidly coiffed selves?” She sighed, tapping one […]

MOON GLOW – #flashfictionmagic

October 22, 2021 by Sheri

“I wouldn’t drink that if I were you.” The murmured words made me freeze with the crystal glass against my lips. The liquid inside sloshed, silver bubbles fizzing into my face. He stood a sharp shadow against the garden wall, one foot braced behind him. I tilted my head, trying to make out his features […]

FEAR – #flashfictionmagic

October 22, 2021 by Sheri

“Is that the last?” Magnolia turned her neck to scan the cave’s tiny entrance, her body already spread protectively before the group of tiny faces behind her. Blocking out the harsh torches and hateful eyes that rattled and clamored outside. If only she could silence the sounds of war by standing there. “They’re all here,” […]

June has been lovely, so lovely I’m taking a bre June has been lovely, so lovely I’m taking a break from IG for a week or so.😊 We’re currently in Arkansas (we call it “summering” but it’s really just visiting family and friends and working to fund our travels😅) I hope to use the extra time toponder life both physical and virtual, read lots of books, and take my kids to the pool a lot. 😊
Happy June!

#flashfictionmagic - RED ROSE 🥀🥀🥀 Bell ha #flashfictionmagic - RED ROSE
🥀🥀🥀
Bell had always thought the scent of a red rose looked like iniquity. The one she looked at now had a dozen silky petals unfolding like red bedsheets, its tiny cloud of fragrance curved and dark as blood along its edges. It lay at the edge of her flower stand, its stem threaded between the row of bouquets in crystal vases.
Peering through her eyelashes, she studied the festival crowd that hid the burnt orange bricks of the Piazza. Who would give a flower to a flower seller? And why one that meant passion?
The crowd teemed with flashing white teeth and bare shoulders. No eyes bored into hers from the shadows. No melancholy suitor saluted her over their glass of wine. The crowd was, as ever she wished it, unconscious of her presence.
She took a cleansing breath, letting the lighter fragrances of the other flowers wash over her. The rose must be a mistake. Meant for someone else. She tried to smooth the furrow between her eyebrows.
If only her pulse would stop thrumming and her fingers would stop creeping toward that thorny stem.

A small portion of the results from today’s jam A small portion of the results from today’s jam making. Such a pretty fruit! My mom and I had such a good time talking the last batch turned into strawberry syrup instead of jam.😅 ah well.
Are you preserving any fruit this summer? We travel so much each summer I usually just pick one fruit or vegetable to focus on.
